Nature of Winter Tours
Sponsored by MVSTA, the US Forest Service, and Atlas Snowshoes

The Methow Valley Sport Trails Association (MVSTA) hosts snowshoe tours throughout the winter. Local volunteers lead the tours which are about winter ecology, wildlife and tracks, snow and more.  These family-friendly tours leave from the North Cascades Basecamp in Mazama and Sun Mountain Lodge at 11:00 a.m. on the scheduled dates below. Tours last 90 to 120 minutes. We recommend that you dress warmly and pack a snack and water. MVSTA trail passes or a MVSTA snowshoe trail pass ($5) are required for each person.  Passes and snowshoe rentals are available at Sun Mountain Ski Shop, North Cascades Basecamp, Mazama Ski Shop, Methow Cycle & Sport and Winthrop Mountain Sports. Tour size is limited to 10 people. Reservations are not required; space is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call MVSTA at 996-3287 or email events@mvsta.com for more information.

Where to Snowshoe
Whether you are trying snowshoeing for the first time, or you are interested in building your skills, take advantage of the trails made possible by the Methow Valley Sport Trails Association.

There's something for every ability; a gentle upper-Valley signed path that meanders through cedar forest and beaver chewed cottonwoods along Early Winter's Creek (beaver loop), or higher-elevation, scenic outings at Sun Mountain (Rader Creek).
