A three-day winter weekend dedicated to celebrating nordic skiing in the Methow Valley. Bring your family and friends out for a day of free skiing and festivities on Friday, and a whole weekend of races (classic, skate, trail run), tours, clinics and trail-based fun.

Friday, January 23rd:
  • Backyard Ski Day - All Day - Free trail access, free rentals, free lessons and every reason in the world to bring your family and friends out on the trail to try cross country skiing for the first time!
  • Fat Bike Demo, hosted by Methow Cycle & Sport, 9:00am-noon, Town Trailhead.
Saturday, January 24th:
  • Winter Trail-Run - Sun Mountain Trails (~15K) hosted by Rainshadow Running, 8:00am
  • 30K Classic Race or Tour, Winthrop to Mazama, Methow Community Trail, 9:30am
  • Guided snowshoe and natural history tour, 11:00am
  • Chili and Beer "Happy Hours" at the Mazama Store, noon-2:00pm.
  • Skate Ski Clinic for Runners, Methow Endurance 2:00-4:00pm
  • Sunday skate race/relay/tour registration and packet pick-up, Red Barn, 4:00-6:00pm.
  • Nordic Festival Dinner, hosted by the MV Nordic Ski Team, 6:00pm at the Red Barn.
Sunday, January 25th:
  • 9:30am Interval start for "Pursuit" racers, based on classic day result.
  • 10:15am self seeded "mass start" for Team Relay and 30K or 10K skate tour.
  • Post-race party, music and awards ceremony, Red Barn. 12:00-2:00pm. Pizza and beverages FREE for all weekend registered event participants, and available for purchase for family and friends of participants.

30K Puruit, Tour and Relay Course Map

Winter Trail Run Course - Sun Mountain Trails, TBA. Course will depend on conditions but will include many of the trails that Rainshadow Running uses for the Sun Mountain 25K, 50k and 50M.

 Event Costs:

*All timed race fees go up $10 after January 18th
*Online registration closes end of the day, January 18th.
*No refunds after January 1st

*$15 refund/transfer fee prior to January 1st.

Nordic Race Aid Stations

Aid stations will be provided at Brown's Farm and Wolf Ridge Resort (approximately every 10k) from 10:00am until 2:00pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Racer Transportation
Bus shuttle for Saturday Classic events, departs from Mazama Trailhead at 8:30am.

Bus shuttle for Sunday skate events, departs from Winthrop Trailhead at 8:30am. **For participants that wish to ski only 10K on Sunday, the shuttle bus will offer a ride from Brown's Farm to Town Trailhead finishline (Winthrop) at 11:30am.

NOTE: You may want a ski bag for transporting your skis/poles under the bus. No skis allowed inside bus passenger space. Bring a bag with warm clothes for post-race.
