Ride the Methow!
May 1, 2008
Cycling season has arrived in the Methow! The Valley floor is snow free, the hills are green and soon to be flush with flowers, and conditions are fabulous for mountain biking on the lower elevation trails. At this point, we recommend Pipestone Canyon, Pearrygin Lake, and Big Buck trails.
For roadies, most of the county routes have been swept and are in great shape. If you’re just beginning to spin your legs this season, try the Chewuch Loop (~14 miles). Looking for more miles, Winthrop to Carlton and back offers ~43 miles of rolling terrain, or if a climb is in your training regime, Washington Pass – with 3,600’ elevation gain - awaits. On the higher elevation county roads, such as the upper stretches of Twisp River and Eight Mile, expect snow.

- Join local cyclists at a potluck on Friday, May 16th at the home of Terry Karro
