The
Methow Valley is well known for its awesome mountain
biking, however what many do not realize is that the
dry warm weather, varied
terrain and quiet roads make the Methow an ideal road biking
destination. Without leaving the Valley there are multiple
trips that can be as flat or as steep (or even steeper)
as
you want, with alpine terrain to dry farmland, from an hour
to an all day ride.
If you have a cyclo-cross
bike then there are literally hundreds of miles of available
forest roads, which can take you completely over to the Okanogan
without seeing tarmac!
Refueling opportunities
are plentiful and of good quality, with bike shops
available for technical support or ride advice (Winthrop Mountain
Sports in Winthrop and Methow Cycle & Sport in Winthrop). Post-ride food options are also varied and of good
quality, whatever your tastes.
Next
time you come to the Methow, bring your road bike and
we’ll see you
on the road!
